The short answer
Choose BrightLocal if you need a full local SEO suite: citation tracking and building, listing sync across directories, review monitoring and review campaigns across multiple sites, a 100-keyword local rank tracker, and white-label reporting for agency clients.
Choose AuraLocal if your focus is Google Maps and your Google Business Profile, and you want it for less: a 49-point rank grid for 10 keywords per profile refreshed daily, a 100-point profile audit with a ranked fix list, post scheduling with photo-to-post, AI review replies, and live ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode visibility checks, all at a flat price per profile.
The biggest practical difference is price as you grow. BrightLocal charges by location bracket and tier, so the plan that includes posting and reviews costs $131 a month for 10 locations. AuraLocal covers 10 profiles for $59. AuraLocal is our product, so we've also listed where BrightLocal is the better choice. Weighing other tools too? See our guide to the best local rank trackers and AI visibility tools, or the best BrightLocal alternatives.
What you'll really pay as you grow
BrightLocal's starting price looks similar to AuraLocal's. The difference shows up as you add locations and features.
BrightLocal sells three tiers, and each one's price rises with every location bracket:
- Track covers tracking, audits, citation monitoring and AI visibility.
- Manage adds listing sync, AI Insights and Google post scheduling.
- Grow adds review monitoring, review campaigns and review widgets.
AuraLocal has one feature set on every paid plan, including post scheduling and AI review replies, and charges a flat price per number of profiles.
Here's the monthly cost, billed monthly, as of October 2026:
| Locations | BrightLocal Track | BrightLocal Manage | BrightLocal Grow | AuraLocal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $41 | $54 | $65 | $39 |
| 10 | $83 | $109 | $131 | $59 |
| 30 | $156 | $230 | $296 | $139 |
| 60 | $314 | $461 | $593 | $239 |
| 120 | $629 | $879 | $1,099 | $379 |
For an agency with 30 clients, that's $296 a month on BrightLocal Grow versus $139 on AuraLocal: about $1,900 a year saved. At 60 locations the gap grows to $354 a month.
Two things keep this comparison fair. BrightLocal's annual billing cuts its prices by about 25%, which narrows the gap but doesn't close it: 30 locations on Grow is still $222 a month billed annually. And BrightLocal includes tools AuraLocal doesn't have, such as citation tracking, listing sync across directories and multi-site review campaigns. If you need those, the extra cost buys real features. Citation building is billed separately on every BrightLocal plan, from $2 to $3.20 per citation.

Which is better for rank tracking?
BrightLocal tracks more keywords overall; AuraLocal gives you more grid keywords, updated more often, at a lower price.
BrightLocal gives you two trackers. Its Local Rank Tracker follows up to 100 keywords and four competitors per location as a list of positions over time. Its Local Search Grid shows rankings on a map, with five grid sizes up to 15x15 and custom grid points that skip water and empty areas, for up to five keywords. You can compare two grids side by side to show progress, or set your grid next to a competitor's.
AuraLocal focuses on the map. Each profile tracks 10 keywords on a 7x7 grid of 49 checkpoints, and every keyword can be refreshed every 24 hours. You can move the whole grid to any area you want to check, move single pins and re-check just those spots, and click any pin to see the top 5 competitors at that exact location. Each keyword keeps a ranking history, so you can see what moved and when.
Which matters more depends on your keywords. If you track dozens of keywords and only need a few on the map, BrightLocal's 100-keyword list tracker is a real advantage. If your most valuable keywords are "near me" searches where position changes street by street, AuraLocal's 10 grid keywords per profile with daily refreshes give you more of the data that matters.

Which tracks AI visibility better?
Both tools check whether AI recommends your business in your area, and they cover different AI platforms. BrightLocal covers more of Google's AI, while AuraLocal covers Gemini and Perplexity.
| AI platform | BrightLocal | AuraLocal |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Yes | Yes, live check with web search |
| Gemini | No | Yes, live check with Google Search grounding |
| Perplexity | No | Yes, live check |
| Google AI Mode | Yes | Yes, live check |
| Google AI Overviews | Yes | No |
BrightLocal's Local AI Visibility Tracker is included in every plan. It checks up to 20 prompts per location and gives each location a 0–100 visibility score, broken down by platform and prompt. It compares you with the local competitors AI recommends instead, and its AI sources leaderboard shows which directories AI cites for your category. Any listing gaps it finds can go straight into BrightLocal's paid Citation Builder.
AuraLocal runs live checks on ChatGPT (using its web search), Gemini (using Google Search grounding), Perplexity and Google AI Mode for buyer-style prompts like "best roofer in Denver." Each check shows whether you're mentioned, your position among the businesses named, sentiment, and which competitors appear instead, combined into a 0–100 citation score. Results sit next to your map rankings and profile audit, and you can share them with clients through a live report link.
The verdict: if Google AI Overviews matter most to you, or you want to fix AI visibility through citations, BrightLocal's tracker is the stronger choice. If you want Google AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity covered, or want AI results alongside daily map tracking at a lower price, AuraLocal fits better.

Which is better for managing your Google Business Profile?
BrightLocal manages your presence across the wider web; AuraLocal goes deeper on the Google Business Profile itself.
Profile audits
BrightLocal audits a Google Business Profile and benchmarks it against the top-ranking competitors, runs a full local search audit, and on Manage and Grow its AI Insights turns findings into prioritized actions. AuraLocal scores the whole profile out of 100 across identity, content, reputation, operations and SEO, ranks every gap by impact and effort, and builds a week-by-week 30-day plan. It also crawls your website and flags any mismatch in name, address, phone, hours, categories or description between your site and your listing.
Posts and photos
BrightLocal's GBP Post Scheduler, on the Manage and Grow plans, schedules and publishes Google posts for one or many locations. AuraLocal includes post scheduling on every paid plan and adds a photo workflow: upload photos and geotag them as you go, let AI screen out low-quality images, then turn any photo into a scheduled post in one click, with the post text written by AI from what's in the image.
Reviews
This is BrightLocal's stronger area. Its Grow plan monitors and lets you respond to reviews across multiple sites, runs review campaigns by email, SMS and in store, and adds a review widget for your website. AuraLocal focuses on Google: it pulls your Google reviews and drafts AI replies in the tone you choose, which you can publish straight to Google. If you need reviews from Yelp, Facebook and other sites in one inbox, or want to run review-request campaigns, BrightLocal does more. (GBP tools vs review platforms)
Citations and listings
BrightLocal tracks your citations, finds missing listings, and on Manage and Grow keeps your business details synced and protected across key sites. Its Citation Builder submits new listings for $2 to $3.20 each and works in many countries. AuraLocal doesn't track or build citations. If citation work is part of what you deliver, BrightLocal covers it. (BrightLocal vs Whitespark compares the two best-known citation tools.)
Which is better for agencies?
BrightLocal gives agencies more client-facing polish and more services to sell. AuraLocal gives agencies a lower, fixed cost per client.
BrightLocal lets you white-label its tools and reports with your branding, share location dashboards, and use an agency lead-generation widget on your own site. It offers an API and an MCP server for connecting its data to AI assistants, and a Google Analytics integration. For agencies that also sell citation building and review campaigns, all of it lives in one platform.
AuraLocal keeps your cost per client flat: 30 profiles for $139 a month, 60 for $239 and 120 for $379, with daily refreshes included. Teams work in shared workspaces with owner, admin, member and viewer roles. Client reports are live links covering rankings, maps, profile metrics and AI visibility, which clients open without logging in. Connecting a Google account finds every Business Profile it manages. PDF exports and custom branding are not available yet.
The quick test: if branded reports and citation services are part of what you sell, BrightLocal earns its higher price. If your service is ranking clients on Google Maps and you want the most margin per client, AuraLocal's flat pricing wins. For 30 clients, the difference is $296 versus $139 a month.
